Video of the day: Europe Day 47We are safe and secure in Kismaros, Hungary.

It was a really nice today. We had a small head wind which was pretty annoying but manageable. Today we got to ride along side the Danube, inland through fields and forests and small towns and villages. Parts of the route was on pavers both new and old (our favourites
), asphalt, gravel, dirt and concrete. New concrete is okay but older concrete with raised joints every metre really sucks! All part of the experience.

We stopped in Sturovo for coffee and sweets and from the café we had a perfect view of the Basilica of Esztergom, the biggest church in Hungary.

We came across the town of Chl’aba, an 880 year old town, whose most distinctive feature is the row of cellars on the main street of the village. These are ancient wine cellars cut into the sandstone hillside.

We crossed back into Hungary going over a very nice bridge and noticed that the Slovakia end of the bridge was closed to vehicular traffic. Not the first time we encounter this situation but today we decided to find out why. Turns out Austria, Hungary, Slovakia and Czech Republic have temporarily closed their borders due to concerns over fears of foot-and-mouth disease.
We are spending the night in a fully equipped little cottage that has a DēLonghi coffee maker that we don't how to operate!
Tomorrow we are headed to Érd, Hungary (past Budapest).
