NOTE: Relive videos now include pictures

Today we started the day with seasonal temperature of 7 Celcius but felt like 3 with the wind. It was chilly.

We once again crossed the Rhine on the same bridge we used 2 days ago and headed towards the peninsula where the Chocolat Museum is. The area consists of renovated dock warehouses and ultra modern residential towers.

We stopped for a quick picnic and coffee in Bornheim and basked in the afternoon sun out of the wind. In no time at all we were in Bonn our destination for the day.

Our Friends on Bikes hostess recommended Japaneese Cherry Blossoms in full bloom at Heerstrasse and we quickly and safely rode there. See in the video and picture below.

With a meet up time of 6 p.m., we hung around downtown, pulled out the alcohol burner, made ourselves coffee, ate fruits and biscuits all the while, next to a very busy intersection.

Before heading to our final destination for the night, we thought we could make another stop in a park or some other quiet place. We found a nice Chinese restaurant with an outside terrace. We were told everything is closed in Germany on Sundays so we set up shop and did some long overdue bike chain maintenance. Hélène googled the restaurant and discovered they opened at 5 p.m. We tried and very much liked their egg rolls.

Stephan, a regular Sunday patron, noticed our Amsterdam to Istanbul sign and we started a chat. We chatted about cycle touring and I brought up the name of a well know president. That has so far generated quite a bit of conversation. We shook hands to terminate the conversation as we did not want Stephan to get home with a cold supper.

We finally made it to Claudia's and to our great surprise, we discovered that we could all communicate in French and we treated to a lovely vegetarian supper.

When people ask why we put ourselves through the physical challenge and at times discomfort, we say it's all about the people we have met and the ones we will meet in the future.

  1. All the kids enjoyed this video! Especially the cherry blossom trees.
Hudson said "wow I've only seen cherry blossoms in Minecraft!"

Ivy would like to know if your tired from the biking?

Hudson wants to know if the big boat from the Relive video is a train boat. Lol

    1. Love the reference to Minecraft, I was not aware they had cherry blossoms in the game.

Oh it's sweet that Ivy wants to know if I'm tired. No I'm not too tired as long as we keep our days under 60 km. Windy days make it more tiring but the wind was almost non existent today.

Ha ha, the boat in the Relive is a river boat, it's for boat cruises on the Rhine river. It does look like a train as well.
