We are safe and secure in a very nice campground at Neßlbach. This will be our last night in Germany.

We left the hotel at 8:34 AM heading to our first campground at Neßlbach some 62 kms away. Hélène had planned the route the night before and it was going to be an easy from A to B, put up tent and have a beer. So we thought!

There was a lot of reconstruction on the dyke and we had to reroute. The signs for the detour were few and far between so Hélène had to plan out many of our detour routes.

As a result, we did not get to experience as much of the Danube as we did yesterday. The detour took us to a small village that to our surprise had a basilica and not just a church.

As we got to Neßlbach, we were quite happy to see the road signs for ‘campground’. Because this is Germany, the vending machine sells cold beer in a 1/2 litre glass bottle. We got to have our first ’bière sale / dirty beer’ of the trip. Bière sale refers to that beer you have after cycling all day and have not yet showered.

Hélène just got back from the grocery store 300 meters away that according to Google was open from 2 PM till 6 PM. To our great surprise, the store closes at noon daily. Looks like beer and cookies for supper!

The bakery near us opens at 6:30 AM
