48.4 km - Total so far 2,235.40 km - Route pedalled. Relive Video (with pictures)
Video of the day: Europe Day 40We are safe and secure in Tulln un Der Donau, Austria.
After a nice leisurely breakfast at the Kopling Campus Cafeteria, we headed out for the 44 or so kms towards Tulln. We had a quick ride through Krems and in no time at all we were on a bridge once again crossing the Danube River. We tried from different locations to take pictures of the Göttweig Abbey but none of them were any good. See the Abbey here
Today was a far cry from yesterday. Our 48 kms ride can be summed up as follows: along the south side of the Danube we saw tow individual swans, two groups of ducks (2 ducks + 5 more ducks), two individual cyclists, two European geese with orange beaks and a Danube small boat marina. The on and off rain was actually a welcomed distraction because we could talk about the type of rain drops, the intensity, the direction, etc.
The riverfront path was blocked by a dam/lock combination and we were directed inland. This is how we stumbled on a quaint restaurant(Bärndorfer Hutt) that according to Hélène had one of the best ever salad. I had the soup with cheese dumplings soup, also very good. The rain stopped when we got inside and restarted as soon as we came out.
Instead of getting back to the riverfront trail, we stayed inland and pedaled through a number of villages. We added kilometers because we could not check-in until 4:30 pm. In addition to kms, I also added a large Coke, large fries and a big burger from Burger King.
In summary, putting together the ReLive and Hélène's video took almost no time to produce (could also be shortest daily video to date) at all due to the lack of novel or exciting material.
Tomorrow afternoon we should be in Vienna.
