Video of the day: Europe Day 15
We are safe and secure in Ludwigshafen.
To date, we had been accustomed to a bright and sunny start to the day. It was not so this morning. With ominous clouds around us, the only sunshine was in our hearts. The possibilities of a tail wind for most of the day put a smile on our faces.
The first 10 km of the ride were not that exciting I am afraid. Things did perk up once we found ourselves on a path that took us through a hilly hillside vineyard. Nothing as hilly as we saw yesterday but just enough to perk things up a bit.
For much of the ride, we rode a path that runs along side a dike and that gave it a sense of déjà vue. As we neared the City of Worms, we had an unpleasant experience riding through the industrial park. We have seen many industrial parks in Germany and believe me this one is not pretty. Once we got to Worms, we were faced with lots of road construction and non existent signage. We decided to take a rest stop at McDonald's and workout how to safely get around the road construction. We did not have time to visit the nice historical sections of Worms but this link shows what there is to see.
Earlier this morning, we had waved to a touring cyclist who was taking a rest stop. This gentleman also decided to stop at McDonald's. I struck up a chat with Dragon (a Serb living in Amsterdam) on his way to Strasbourg. He recommended a visit to the town of Colmar (south of Strasbourg) and take the canal de Huningue. We are looking at doing just that since our planned route is not etched in stone.
The sun eventually came out and we made it to our self check-in accommodation for the night. We have a nice bedroom with private bathroom and access to common areas. We are working on our blog from the dining room.
LOVE the secret message from Mr.Coffee.
